“‘Pian Perduto’ was filmed in Casteluccio di Norcia, a small village atop the only hill on the Sibillini Mountains plateau, facing Monte Vettore, the highest peak in our mountains. The village was completely devastated by the 2016 earthquake, and only the ruins remain, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of nature. In June, the entire plateau is adorned with the flowering of all the fields, creating one of the most astonishing natural spectacles, known as la Fioritura.

The title ‘Pian Perduto’ takes its name from one of the three plateaus that surround it, and ‘perduto,’ meaning ‘lost,’ reflects the irretrievable damage suffered by Castelluccio due to the earthquake. It symbolizes the feeling of emptiness and loss experienced when wandering among the ruins. However, one can still find hope and comfort in the beauty that surrounds them.
